Oat milk is currently enjoying a rapid boom in popularity thanks to the valiant efforts of a certain Swedish startup. With its mild flavor and creamy texture, oat milk is perfect for baking, lattes, savory recipes, over cereal, and plain drinking. Oat milk is also rich in fiber with moderate protein. Thankfully, you can enjoy your own freshly-made oat milk at home while saving big bucks đź’¸ because rolled oats come dirt cheap.

Ingredients

  • Dry oats, uncooked
    • For rolled oats:
      • 1 US Customary cup for SoyaJoy
      • 3/4 US Customary cups for SoyaPower
    • Steel cut oats
      • 2/3 US Customary cup for SoyaJoy
      • 1/2 US Customary cup for SoyaPower
  • Water

*Note that the measuring cup provided with the machines (called “Sanlinx cup” in the user manual) equals 1/2 US Customary cup.

Instructions

  1. If using rolled oats, soak in drinking water for about 2 hours
  2. If using steel cut oats, soak in drinking water for about 8 hours
  3. Add oats to machine, and add drinking water up to between the lines
  4. Close machine, power on, and press “Raw”
  5. Do a little dance
  6. When the cycle finishes, strain the milk by pouring through a sieve or cheesecloth
  7. Add flavorings or sweeteners to taste
  8. Enjoy!
